Can I paint this on and it stop the rust?** A: Sorry to take so long to answer....been away and just found your email. That would be a conditional YES. The question is...how much of the tine is left at the bottom where it's rusting? If, after you clean the rust away, there is enough of the wire left to save (the test is whether you can easily bend it at that joint or is there a fair amount of resistance to bending)...If there is substantial resistance to bending...then, yes, go ahead and recoat it with Uber Goop. If, on the other hand, not enough of the wire is left and it can't be saved...then use wire cutters to take the tine off completely flush and recoat that spot.
