The athletic socks that I wore for the past several years just didn't cut it any more. Those socks wore out at the heel quickly. I saw the stellar reviews for the Carhartt Artic Wool Boot socks and although expensive, I decided to give them a try. Best $20 I've ever spent. I've had these socks two months now and my feet have been super comfortable and toasty. My shoe size is 10-1/2 D to size 11, and the XL size fits perfectly. I highly recommend these socks, and I plan on reordering them, I-F they ever wear out. Five stars!Update: March 27, 2013. These socks can get a little nubby, just because they're wool. That is the only negative so far, and that is only appearance. The socks continue to do their job well, which is to keep my feet warm and cushioned. These things are like wearing the most comfortable slippers man ever created. I'm still very pleased with this product.
