So is a noise waveform. It has an arbitrary function capability so you can enter a waveform via the USB or network interface (standard Ethernet) connection and it will then generate it and let you vary amplitude and frequency. The display is quite sharp and the screen is large enough to be easily read. The relatively small size means it does not take up a lot of space on your workbench or if you are carrying it around. A nice, well-made (though I did not open it up - I'm judging by the way the controls feel and work) product for a reasonable price. It feel like military gear. It can be used as a sine wave from DC to 40MHz and square up to 25MHz. Frequency has a 7 digit resolution. (1MHz has a resolution of 1Hz) I could only get the amplitude to show up in volts. (Couldn't find a dBm unit conversion) The amplitude goes from 1mVp-p to 20Vp-p. It allows you to change impedance to 50 ohm or High Z. It has a mode that lets you mix both outputs internally. It allows you to couple the channels and adjust phase between channels. For tone, the sine wave has a function that lets you adjust the amplitude and phase of up to 9 harmonics on that signal. (I use this function to teach how square waves are created) It also has a bunch of built in arbitrary waveforms and the software to create your own. **Q: When powering on i get a warning "overvoltage detected!" which disappears in a couple of seconds.what could be wrong?no response from support@siglent** A: This is a firmware problem, incorrect error. It is not cheap, but nice. It is also a lot less to the very high end signal generators. It is good for HF ham radio work. The capacitive touch screen is very handy and easy to use, but I would say the same for the button operated menu system as well.
