I mainly use the pruning saw to cut off High / dead palm fronds. My experience is that it is far more difficult to do so, with even a moderately Dull saw blade Of note some ACE Hardware stores offer a saw sharpening service. The Dunedin FL ACE sharpening cost was only $10/ blade. I have found that those ACE sharpened blades to EXCEED the cutting performance, even when compared to a completely New blade.
