You lift the safty bar, put your child on the swing than lower the bar. There is additional strap which go between legs, but in our swing it has got torn almost immediately. My kid is able to sit comfortably which was missing it his previous swing seat.But I believe there should be some easier way to adjust the rope. My kids swing frame height is 6.5ft and the swing rope also was of 6.5ft. So I had to shorten the rope, and trust me it took me hours with all tools in my home to pry open the strong clips and put them back later on. By the time I was finished, my hands was sour. The same will happen if we have to replace the rope.
