## Description

The ABFO No. 2 Scale was designed by the American Board of Forensic Odontology and is used through the country when photographing bite marks on a victim's body. The three crosshair circles are useful in helping to compensate for distortion resulting from oblique camera angles. The graduations are all metric, except for the width of the legs, which are 1" wide. The 1 cm division lines are traced and extended across the photographic print to grid an image. Measurements within the image are then made relative to these inscribed 1 cm grid lines to compensate for any distortion resulting from non-parallelism between the film and the object planes.

A: It's plastic, a little flexible but doesn't bend. Yes, it is definitely reusable - it is not the paper-tape type. I've used it repeatedly for photographs of animal tracks and sign.

The scale marker is easily bendable and probably tearable as well, but I made a sleeve for it to travel in. At the dinosaur dig it was still heavy enough to stay put in a stiff breeze, but more and it would have blown away. One could tape washers to the back side I suppose. It provided a clear, sharp scale grid when photographed against an uncovered bone.

They are compact and light to carry in your dig/survey kit, but still sturdy enough to stand up to the rain and other abuses. They make my artifact photo's look twice as good without any extra effort!

This product is made out of thin, non-laminated cardboard. I was shocked when I received it. If I had it to do over again I would look on the web for a ruler like this to print out.
