It’s kick ass awesomeness, ok so I didn’t have high hopes for this, I admit that, normally I don’t like the academy trope, but I have to say, I really, really enjoyed this one. Summer, a human, who lives in the tainted zone, with kids she’s taken in, there is barely any food, yet they get by. The shimmer the centre of the magical disaster sits not far from Summers home, on the other side the Fae, who caused the disaster in the first place. When Summer is running because she has stolen food for her family, she hides in the shimmer, in the winter lands. There she’s tempted by fruit that grows all year around, those could keep her family going. But she’s caught, by a fae and branded as the Fae princes property, told she must attend the Evermore academy, for four years, then she can pay off her debit. I loved every second of this book, except when our smart summer does something stupid… she knew it was stupid but still did it anyway, that annoyed me. saying that I understand why she did it, but was still annoyed me to the point I had to put the book down for a day. I loved the winter prince I do wish some of it was from his point of view though. We see it all through summers eyes. I was shocked when I thought I was getting spice…. I fumbled to turn the Audio book off when it got a bit hot. thinking oh no my 16-year-old son can here this…. Needless to say, it wasn’t spice… but still so glad I wasn’t in public listening to that. I often swich between reading and listening it helps with the name’s and how to pronounce them. The characters are all well rounded I love them all. This is definitely one of my top books for the year. Review: One for Cardan fans!!! - Evermore Academy - 4.7 starlights 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ An easy read, full of beautiful deadly Fae and fragile yet resilient humans and a mesmerising dystopian world - A perfect fusion of urban and rural fantasy romance with my favourite trope - Enemies to lovers, slow burning romance, written so well! The book starts off so good! Definitely had a court of thorns and roses/ Cruel Prince vibes mixed with Vampire Academy but the story felt a bit predictable and empty at times in the middle. However, despite some plot holes, I really enjoyed the overall narrative and premise. The writing style is great and the world building is fascinating. I was gripped for most part - the characters were fun and interesting (including the side characters) and Audrey Grey does a great job creating this unique take on the Fae and also keeping the mystery heightened. I especially adored the main protagonist, Summer - She is stubborn, feisty, tough, super brave; gentle and empathic. And the Prince is definitely Irresistible. The slow burning love story was enthralling and explosive by the end! The last few chapters were so good! So intense and gripping! I couldn’t stop reading.
