I washed them all first, and there were a LOT of broken pieces inside, as well as small pieces which I discarded. However....it looks amazing all around the heater and glistens day and night. I buried some orange mini lights in it to mimic embers. That orange light reflects on the fireglass and also looks amazing. I'll be glad to have the protection of the heat safe glass under the unit when the heater is used.
