## Description

.com In 1995, a young game studio named Westwood released one of the first real-time strategy games. They had created the genre a few years earlier, but this title took the fledgling genre to new heights with impressive graphics, revolutionary gameplay features and an enthralling story told through the then-young art of full motion video. After twelve successful games spread out over ten years, the venerable Command & Conquer franchise has become synonymous with the real-time strategy genre it popularized, and the entire series is now available on one disc in Command & Conquer The First Decade. Command & Conquer the First Decade collects the entire Command and Conquer library on one disc. Red Alert offers mixes vintage World War 2 vehicles with some distinctly modern touches. View larger. Generals is more geared for the current gamer, with a contemporary setting and modern graphics. View larger. Tiberian Sun updates the classic Command and Conquer game, continuing the storyline with improved gameplay and graphics. View larger. Battle the old-fashioned way with the original Command & Conquer, watch an alternate World War II unfold in Command & Conquer Red Alert or control the modern warfield in Command & Conquer Generals--all three of Command & Conquer's worlds are open to nostalgic gamers and modern aficionados alike. Tiberian Dawn Old friends await the seasoned gamer in the original Command & Conquer universe, as the fanatical Brotherhood of Nod battles the Global Defense Initiative in a war over the mineral Tiberium. Whether playing as the Brotherhood and obeying the charismatic Kane's every command or taking control of GDI forces as they seek to save the world from Kane's ambition, every detail of Command & Conquer is just as you remember it. The original full motion videos tell the story in what was once cutting-edge and is now quaint, and the gameplay is simple as can be. Gather Tiberium to produce tanks, infantry and more to decide the fate of the world, or try to connect to others with one of the first online game-finding services! Bring the original storyline to a close in Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun, and determine the fate of the world--or, if you want a break from the strategy formula, take control of a GDI Commando in the recent Command & Conquer Renegade, a first person shooting game set in the Tiberium universe. See the world of C&C up close and personal from Nick "Havoc" Parker's point of view as he fights a one-man war against the forces of Nod armed with a diverse arsenal of weapons and one-liners. Engage in heated battles over nameless fields and familiar territory alike in your struggle to save the world. View larger. The Red Menace Perhaps the most popular game of the franchise, Command & Conquer Red Alert asks the question, "What if Albert Einstein mastered time travel, then used it to go back in time and kill Hitler?" The answer is a world at war not with Nazi-led Germany, but the rapidly expanding Soviet Union under Stalin's iron fist. Dip into the world of historical fiction as the Allied forces take on the Soviet bloc in a war fought not just by soldiers, planes and tanks, but by time travelers, psychics and giant tesla coils. This more refined and advanced real time strategy game features gameplay innovations that greatly influenced the games that followed, including building queues and other convenient options, providing a nice balance between nostalgia and playability.A World at War While Command & Conquer takes place in the future and Red Alert in the past, Command & Conquer Generals offers its version of the present, as the United States, China and a terrorist group known as GLA battle all over the world. The most game-oriented of the series, Generals contains no FMV like its predecessors, concentrating instead on pure 3D gameplay as well as the wry humor that peppered the previous games. In all, Command & Conquer The First Decade contains not only the games that defined a genre, but the history of that genre. Players can experience the evolution of the real-time strategy game as they play each game in sequence, and see for themselves how far the technology has come since 1995--but also find out that the old games still have some life left in them. From the Manufacturer Relive a decade of real-time strategy history. Celebrating the anniversary of this innovative franchise, Command & Conquer: The First Decade features a dozen classic C&C games, plus an exclusive bonus DVD of commemorative videos including a rare interview with Louis Castle, co-founder of Westwood Studios and the creator of the Command & Conquer franchise. Features:The ultimate collection features 12 Command & Conquer games on a single DVD Bonus DVD with commemorative video features including exclusive interviews and tribute videos from our biggest fans Hundreds of single-player missions and multiplayer mayhem spanning every Command & Conquer universe: Tiberium--the Sci-Fi universe that started it all Red Alert--the battlegrounds of alternate history Generals--fight the masterminds of modern warfare Command & Conquer: The First Decade includes the following titles: Command & Conquer (Aug. 1995) Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations (April 1996) Command & Conquer: Red Alert (Oct. 1996) Command & Conquer: Red Alert Counterstrike (Mar. 1997) Command & Conquer: Red Alert The Aftermath (Sept. 1997) Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (Aug. 1999) Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun Firestorm (Feb. 2000) Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (Oct. 2000) Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge (Oct. 2001) Command & Conquer: Renegade (Feb. 2002) Command & Conquer: Generals (Feb. 2003) Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour (Sept. 2003)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: will this work with windows 10**
A: Yes and no. C&C Generals and Zero Hour will work for sure on Win10, but the other, older C&C games will not, unless you can make the appropriate changes. If you Google up fixes, there are a number of good videos and answers on how to do this.

**Q: Will this play on windows 8?**
A: It will play; but it might have issues with the screen and things not rendering properly. I have 8.1 and some of the games will play but others have issues with the screen. Windows has a compatibility wizard to play games meant for older versions of Windows.

**Q: When trying to load generals zero hour it says no disc inserted even though it works for other games?**
A: Did you install the generals main game? Try also to have game disc in pc drive too.

**Q: will c and c run on windows 7 the first decade**
A: that depends. on my older system, which was win XP and upgraded to win 7, most of them worked. on my newer win 7 machine, only the older games will. i think it had to do with the video card. for some reason it wont let me play generals. i seem to remember the price was reasonable. i have always liked C and C, and i figured i can take one of my older computers and get it to run on that for just that game...based on the other reviews and questions, there does not seem to be a consistent factor in getting it to work. some win 7 folks run the game as admin, and in 256 color mode. hope that helps...

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lots of Fun (Not great support from EA though)
*by D***Y on September 23, 2006*

One big thing to note...this package says PC/DVD on the cover, so if your pc has an older CD drive only (as ours does) you will not be able to load it on your machine. We had to put it on a different machine.Also-the websites that EA advertises are no longer functioning even though this product is still being sold on the market. Just google the company to find their latest location. The games work about half the time, but they are still great fun. It seems that Red Alert 2 & Yuri's Revenge are our favorites, only eclipsed by Generals Zero Hour, which is probably the best game I've ever played on a computer. Between computers hanging up while trying to run this game, or over heated systems crashing, or mismatches on the net, this game fails about 50% of the time I play it. To my knowledge there is no work ongoing to support this product. One tip & one warning: Download Final Alert 2 from the internet (it's free) and use it to make maps for these games. That's a lot of fun. We were able to take maps of real places in the world (bmp format) and make games using real world maps. One big warning...do not download the mod packages. They usually corrupt the game and then you have to reinstall everything!Enjoy these games. There are lots of kids online playing them and they are really fun. If you like these, you might love Generals Zero Hour. It's similar, but with more micro management for detailed play/strategy and better detailed graphics.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great, works on Win7
*by R***U on May 9, 2012*

Yes, you can get these games to work on (32 and 64 bit) Win7. It was so cheap that I figured if I get it to work, great. If not, no huge loss, this is the first game I've bought in probably over 5 years. That right there says something, how much I loved these games as a kid and still enjoy playing them.I probably spent about 5 hours of surfing the net for various patches, configurations and methods to install/run the programs. Now I can play all of the games except Red Alert 2. Not a huge loss in my book. There's probably a way to fix it, but not worth the time in my opinion. Do an online search for tfd-103-rev4. Install the game first then run that file. Bingo! Just saved you hours of struggling to get the game to work.Another nice thing, you don't need a high-end computer to play the games, since the graphics requirements are minimal compared to new games. Be warned though, be prepared to do a bit of research/experimenting to get the games to run properly if my suggestion above does not work. If you're not expecting that or up for it, don't get pissed off when the game shows up "not working". Since the game itself is so cheap, its the price you pay!

### ⭐ so, let the butchery begins!
*by O***O on January 6, 2012*

ok, I just love Command and Conquer when came out in the 90's as all the fanatics that will shoot me in the comments when this review go live (for that the title), I finish it with the only faction that I could (GDI) because with the NOD's boys I have an issue with one mission that simply hang up my pc and of course if I can't finish it, I can't advance and finish the campaign. I thought that was my pc but when I bought the new one, the same thing, so I get frustrated, throw the towel and forget about the game.I'm a little maniac and I just simply can't watch a second part movie without see the first one (maybe the only exception is star wars because in the 80's was announced that only 3 movies will exist), and of course I can't play a game without finish his first parts. for this I just not play never all the games that follows (red alert, generals, etc), wishing that someday EA will get some kind of compilation with the obvious rewrote of the code for fix the bad mission.when I saw this in the 2007, I thought that my prayers where listen so I run to buy it. in that time I have a quad core Q6600, 4 gb ddr667 (4 1gb Kingston modules), working on a 975 extreme edition MSI mainboard, a 150 gb 10k rpm WD raptor and a MSI Nvidia 8800GT with 1gb of vram, and XP 32 bits professional. I was exited because I have a good pc and finally will finish the whole package of games (C&C3 was put in the amazon's wish list while I wait the mail delivers this one), and when I got it, I just cry in pain.first, I have like one thousand of issues installing it, but it's ok, I'm still cool, I research a lot between Google, forums, etc. I download lots of patches, hotfixes, cyber prayers and other cyber shamanistic solutions with finally putting it to run. one of the expansions still don't run but I can't remember which one today.the thing that almost make me swallow a bullet was that I end GDI campaign and then when I'm playing with the Brotherhood of NOD, the same bug on the same mission with the same result as the 90's, I swear I literally and really cry.I sent lots of mails and post lots of messages in EA's forums and I get nothing but one generic answer about get a new and best machine and video card, get latest drivers and reinstall the whole thing. months later I upgrade a little my pc. now got a quad core Q8400, 4 gb ddr800 again in 4 Kingston modules, a MSI P45 mainboard, raptor 300 gb 10k rpm, MSI 250gts with 1 gb of vram and the same win XP. then, I install the game with all the carnival of patches and hotfixes fest, and then when I came to the NOD mission, again the same issue. God, I'm using a great machine in 2008, why in the hell I can't finish a game of the 90's?. for my peace of mind I uninstall it, get the discs and throw them in the most hidden drawer on my closet until a miracle comes out or I get a NASA pc to run it.the last year I sold my desktop pc and get my actual machine, an Alienware M11x, 1.5Ghz i7, 8 gb Kingston ddr1333 ram, Nvidia GT540M and Seagate 500 gb 7.200 rpm HDD. the OS is windows 7 home premium. now, one last chance for first decade anddd..... the same freaking thing. so, I come to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe, the PC requirements maybe has nothing to do in my issue, and seeing that I'm definitely cursed to not enjoy the C&C saga. I sold the game in an online auction site with the sadness that I never play it again.today I have the same Alienware but I got a 240Gb SSD so, I wish to have it just for give it another try, maybe get a new patch or do more research, but at the end, come on, why I must do more research than the developers of the game just for run it?. why I must get lots of patches and tons of prayers to see if I can use a product that came directly form the factory?. ok, software is not perfect so maybe I have some help from the Overmind, because I still can play without any single issue Starcraft and Broodwar, and installing it from zero, without any single patch. or maybe the emperor protects because I still play all my dawn of war 1 saga installed fresh without any single patch or hotfix to run (just to fix some racial unbalances).this is the only game that not even making a pact with Satan could play, if any covenant or Salemcian witches could help me, maybe I will buy it again and give it another try, because EA definitely is not willing to help.
