Let me explain: For the past several months we have struggled with a troubling problem with our coffee maker. The coffee would flow too slowly from the filter basket (containing the filter paper and coffee) into the pot, relative to the water being pumped into the filter. This resulted in the pot overflowing unless we turned off the brewing cycle repeatedly. We never had this problem in the past. We tried everything to resolve it - first we got a new coffee maker (even a different brand), thinking the old one was just too old. That didn't work. We tried different brands of coffee with different grind sizes. We tried making just a half-pot. We put a perforated plastic spacer under the filter paper to prevent the paper from sticking to the basket and hindering flow. I am not even going to go into more detail about many things we tried. Finally we thought it might be the filter paper itself. We had tried several brands of filters, but were not sure they were made by different manufacturers. As a last resort, I found this metal basket on desertcart. Although it is advertised for a Bunn coffee maker, and we were using Mr Coffee, I checked the measurements and it appeared it would fit inside the plastic basket of out coffee maker.
