The basic raw materials used in making Portland are naturally grey, so it is easy to make grey Laticrete. The raw materials needed to make white Portland are much more expensive, so white Laticrete will cost more. **Q: Will this bond to the old black residue on plywood subfloor after old laminate/vinyl tile was removed?** A: Doubtful, but you should contact Laticrete. They have excellent customer service. **Q: When is it necessary to use the white version instead of the cheaper grey?** A: I used it for my swimming pool tiles.
