Review: LIFESAVER!!! - I LOVE this thing! I could not breastfeed, so we were shaking bottles by hand...ugh. I saw this and decided to try it. I was skeptical that it would mix powdered formula well. But my arms were screaming at me to try it...So I ordered it. It shipped quickly and arrived on time. This pitcher is AWESOME!!! How I mix... We use a flouride free water delivery service for drinking and cooking water. So, the water that comes from the dispenser is really cold. The water temp shouldn't effect how the powder mixes, especially if you "sift" the formula into the water like I (attempt) to describe, plus our daughter drinks her bottles straight out of the fridge no problem.. I fill it up to the 32 ounce line, count out and add my 16 scoops. I shake each scoop out, or kind of tap the scooper lightly on the sides of the pitcher so it's "sifting" the powder out evenly and not dumping into the water in a big lump...it mixes quicker and more thourougly that way (at least in my opinion it does). I put in the mixer and do about a minute of slow and steady "pumps". It pumps really easy and can do it one handed (one handed do slowly, for faster pumps, hold the lid down so the pitcher doesn't move and formula doesn't come up) then let it sit for a minute to settle so I can hold it up and see how much has settled on the bottom. Then go for round 2, a little faster this time for about another 30 seconds to a minute. By the end of this one, if it's not completely mixed, it's dang close. I almost always give it a few more really good "pumps" when I see nothing settled on the bottom, and open it up to make sure no little clumps have floated to the surface. If they have, and it's rare, I dip them out with a spoon and I'm done. I stick it in the fridge and go about my business without tired arms lol. I ALWAYS give it a quick pump or 2 before pouring a fresh bottle. That's probably overkill, but oh well...it's a habit now haha. It rinses out easily, and is dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash it bc when I empty it I am immediately making a fresh pitcher so I'm never out. Super quick to wash and easy to disassemble and reassemble quickly. Anyone who uses powdered formula will love this pitcher. I don't know how I lived without it for 4 months. I am currently raising my third baby and she is incredibly gassy! My husband and I switched her to a sensitive brand formula to help with this issue and noticed right away and after shaking her bottle, it created a lot of foam! To counter this issue we began filling a few 9oz bottles and mixing the formula ahead of time so that the foam would dissolve in the fridge. This worked for a while. Recently though she has been intaking much more formula and it has been hard to keep up with the demand! So, I did some research into what else I could possibly do besides buy more 9oz bottles. And then I found someone who recommended this pitcher. I was skeptical at first.. How would the paddle really mix it well enough to avoid clumping? Well, this pitcher has exceeded my expectations! Not only is there no clumping but there's also little to no foam and it's a breeze to use. You just add your water, add the formula, push the formula down slightly with the paddle, lock the lid and churn. Done. I liked it so much I decided to buy another one within just a couple of weeks! This pitcher has truly been a time saver. As a side note, I would recommend filling it to the 28oz or 30oz line, any higher than that and it tends to spill a little bit when you churn. **Q: Does it have mL markings on the side or only ounce markers?**
A: Yes, there are both ounce and mL markers.

**Q: How do you reduce clumping while mixing? I've tried formula first, mix a little at a time, what am I doing wrong?**
A: I made the mistake of doing the formula first the first time I used it. It's just too much formula for the water to get in there and mix it up very well, so I always put the desired amount of water in first then add the formula. It might be slightly less precise that way, but it's still pretty close and does a great job of mixing. I guess if you're really worried about being precise you could put in about half the water, mix in the formula, then add the rest of the water and mix it some more.

**Q: Can this pitcher be sterilized in boiling water for 10 min?  I didn't see that guidance in the instructions and worry about boiling plastic.**
A: Yes, when I first bought it we sterilized in a pot of hot water for 5-10 mins.  Other than that, we rinse it with the Medela soap and hot water.  I wouldn't recommend using the microwave or dishwasher as these things can break down the plastic.  Of course, that is being a really anal parent.  Every two weeks I sterilize it again within a pot of hot water but I never use the microwave or dishwasher.

**Q: what is the capacity of the pitcher?**
A: I purchased this pitcher for my daughter so I don't know for sure what the capacity is but I know she mixes formula for an entire 24 hours in it.  It's a must have item to mix formula!  Absolutely fantastic.  She has twins and they are both on different formulas so we have 2 of them.  Absolutely love them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A true "must-have" for formula feeding

Seems like not too many people know about this excellent device that is one of the baby items we could not live without. Do yourself a favor and buy this now. I can't tell you how much easier it made feeding our baby. No one recommended this to us, I just happened upon it while browsing baby items on Amazon, and I thank my lucky stars I did. Benefits: *Virtually eliminates the foamy top layer that's produced from traditionally mixing formula *Produces a much smoother and evenly mixed formula *Saves time by mixing formula once per day instead of 10x or more a day. *Saves money since you aren't limited to making formula in 2 oz increments when you need to feed an odd number of ounces. *Saves your sanity during late night feedings since you don't have to measure and mix. *Easy to clean and well made. This pitcher would have been a bargain at twice the price. Some people might argue that it takes more time to warm the bottle if you are serving formula from the fridge, and at first we did warm the bottles. Then a neonatal nurse tipped us off, saying that they don't warm the milk for the NICU babies and even they are fine with it. We gave it a shot and discovered that our little one (then 1 month old) didn't mind cold formula at all, nor did cold formula appear to cause any gas or tummy ache. Tips: *Make your formula after you put the baby down for bed each night. This ensures that you have plenty of time to wash the pitcher and you can also give whatever remains in the pitcher at the last feeding before bedtime. This is the most positive review I've written for anything. This pitcher is that good, and I'm all for anything that makes the early months with a new baby easier on parents.
