However it starts the motor better than the 25 year old original. I believe it is because the new permenant magnet motor on the starter draws less current than the Delco and thereby leaves more current for the ignition system. I doubt the corrosion proof quality of the product. I coated it in a protective grease as I use the boat in salt water. I use it with a Mercuriser 3.0L 181.
