It works like a charm to keep the brushes clean, but it doesn't have an offensive smell. It has a very mild orange scent. I won't use anything else. I have mixed this with medium as well to moderate drying time, and this works perfectly for that as well. I like that it's a more eco-friendly solution. With all kinds of toxic substances in art supplies, it's good to think about breathing safety.
