Review: Great camp cooker at a great price! - So far, so good! Important - Like with all cast iron, season before you use this! I followed the recommended instructions on the product website and seasoned for one hour in 250 degree oven. I have not taken this to camp yet, but I’ve tried it out both on the stove eye and the fire pit and it’s worked so far with a little practice. I’ve tried grilled cheese, potatoes, and fruit “pies.” My favorite so far is two slices of bread (butter the outsides) with apple butter and cinnamon on the inside. It makes a quick apple turnover! I’ve had the best results with canned fruit or preserves - your bread will burn before you get enough heat to cook fresh fruit. You could try a pie crust or phyllo dough, but so far I’ve only tried things I could replicate with little to no effort while camping with minimal ingredients that need to be kept cold. I have not found the handles to be too week as other reviews have said, but you would not be holding this constantly while cooking. You can find a log or rock to prop it up. The handles easily twist out to clean, pack or season the cooker. For the price (I paid $15), this double pie iron definitely delivers.
