The way to tell which to pry open (and the first time I had to get a flat head screwdriver because it was stuck) and which is the tilt, there is an "eye" type tab on the top front (the side that has the two buttons that turn the lights on and off). It's like a slot. I found that because there are hinges on the opposite side which indicates it's going to open in that direction (as opposed to tilt or do the angle thing) in that direction. Unhook that giant slot with a screwdriver or something, and the hinges will open. The red is not the brightest, but it works in seeing inside your deer blind during the dark without lighting up the whole area with white light.
