Her neck is quite small and she would slip out of most collars. She's young and excitable, so I didn't want her to choke herself when she pulled. This was a great leash to address those needs. It's quite sturdy, I have thrown it in the wash too! It doesn't bleed and the snaps have held up well. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it's still too loose around her neck and if she resists my pull, she can still slip out. I have had to adjust my angle to avoid that. But this is a minor complaint against an otherwise great buy! I also wrap it around my waist when I go for a run, it's held up quite well!
