The existing is similar but larger and from a different company. The existing mousepad was worn and lost the cushion for the wrist support. This replacement mousepad has a firm cushion but I do anticipate with years of use it will also eventually lose the support. One big difference I noticed is that this mousepad really stays gripped to the desktop. It does not move at all so to move it you have to physically pick it up, you can't just swipe it around on the desk. Mouse glides easily over the mousepad. Easy size for travel and fits well with laptop in bag, doesn't require a lot of space. I didn't want a mousepad that was so large it would be bulky in my laptop bag.
