The product does work the best on puffy things such as polar fleece, down and wool but even t-shirts, socks and underwear benefited from using these compression bags. This is the new way to travel for me. I would totally recommend using these and you will get the hang and tricks from using them. The one weak point is the plastic zip thing so don't lose it. We didn't as we were very careful. and if you do lose one, you can use the zip from any of the other bags, even those in use. This is one great packing invention that helped make our trip a success. These were extra useful in packing compactly for overseas travel, three flights, and a cruise. It’s amazing how much space is saved by expressing air out of the bags. Minor complaint: the little zipper part slides off easily so you have to keep an eye on them. Would be more effective if they were permanently attached. I could have used fewer enormous bags and more midsized ones. I try to fold them neatly and not over stuff the bags and that does seem to help.
