Output isn't nearly as advertised though. My little Fenix E01 is rated at 13 Lumens and is much brighter. My TerraLUX LightStar 220 and LightStar 300 are the same way. They work fine and are nice lights, but watch those Lumens ratings... This particular penlight only works with alkaline batteries. My eneloops won't work.UPDATE: I have several AA and AAA powered lights from Nebo, StreamLight, TerraLUX, Coast and Fenix and they all work with eneloop batteries - but not this one. Now, the light works only some of the time. I'm sending it back...SECOND UPDATE: I sent the first one back and ordered another TerraLUX 80 from another vendor and this one works fine. And it works with eneloops. Looks like the switch may need some "breaking in"... This light will serve my intended purposes very well (taking notes at night). Review rating title is changed and is updated to 5 stars. Working in confined spaces and holding the light in your mouth was always a concern with the Steam Light because it had no rubber bit so chipping a tooth was my primary concern. Light output is very good and battery life is also quite good. The light from the LED is a soft white, not a bright white. That's nothing bad or good, just a difference between most LED chips. I would say the only downside is that with the clip it does stick a little more out of the pocket, but not excessively, again comparing to a Stream Light. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Long slim flashlight *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2012* I purchased this flashlight to replace my aging Nuwai River Rock flashlight for EDC.While the old River Rock gave sterling service for about 12 years, it is 1st gen LED and getting a little beat up.I based my selection on reviews and keeping abreast of LED development.Upon inspection, the Terralux TLF is well made, sufficiently lightweight and very bright. It almost made me think that this was a incandescent light rather than an LED. The body is rather smooth, not polished but no applied gripping surfaces are present. The tail click assembly is rubber coated and larger in diameter than the body with the exception of the head. Clicking on and off is positive with the option of holding down the button for brief lighting. The button is not recessed, this could lead to inadvertent lighting if used for pocket carry. Because of the high exposed button, electric candle option is not possible.It uses a single bulb in a deep reflector well, this accounts for the long head. The beam is not adjustable. It appears to use glass for the lens.There is a spring tension clip semi-permanently attached to the body. It is located very low in terms of pocket carry.It is too soon to evaluate this flashlight properly, for things like endurance, durability, etc.Bright, strong lights usually mean a trade-off in battery life.While I like this flashlight it is too long for my planned usage. This flashlight is just short of the length of a 2AA Mini-Maglite. I was looking for something closer to the length of my old River Rock.
