Review: Window Scraper. - From my personal experience the STANLEY 170mm glass and window scraper is exactly what you want for tough cleaning jobs. The blade feels sharp and precise which makes removing stickers paint and grime from glass really straightforward without having to scrape again and again. The handle feels solid and gives good grip even when your hands are a bit wet or slippery. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all and feels like something that will last a long time in regular use. What I like most is how controlled it feels, you do not end up scratching the surface when you use the right technique, and the scraper just glides over the glass pulling away the unwanted bits easily. It also feels great value for money. It’s well made, dependable and does its job properly without fuss. I’m very happy with this tool and use it often around the house.
Review: Great little gadget that actually works - So awhile back, I put some vinyl stickers on my bedroom window which was to help deter birds from flying into the mirror like surface in the summer. The stickers were listed as suitable for outdoor use, but I was only able to get 2 on the outside before admitting defeat and putting on the inside of the window. Unfortunately, the outdoor ones have deteriorated in the weather, all of the holographic pattern peeled away and just left an unsightly, sticky outline. I tried numerous cleaning products and a plastic blade that I had, which promised to remove the sticker with absolutely no luck, so I decided to get a proper metal blade. I also have a vinyl that on the outdoor of my property which advertises my business and it’s been subjected to heavy rain and wind over the last few years, and as a result will not peel off and just breaks and is very brittle. I didn’t really believe that this would do much at the cheap price of £1.99 but decided I didn’t have much to lose and recognised the name “Stanley“ as a good DIY brand so decided for the price I would give it a risk. Because it was an 18+ product I had to provide proof of identification at the door which was great to see that it was being supervised and as soon as it arrived, I took it out the packaging and got to work. The handle is quite thin and reminds me of a disposable razor. You can hold it, but there’s not much support/padding and I imagine too much force would cause it to snap, so I made sure to hold it down the end towards the head of the blade. The blade itself comes with a lid that covers it when it’s not in use, which is a great idea because this blade is super thin and super sharp. I made a start on the faded window stickers and was amazed to see that the blade slid straight underneath them and peeled them off with ease. I was able to brush away the brittle parts of the sticker and then go back over with the blade to remove any residue glue without any issue. Next was the task of removing the vinyl sticker on the front of the door and this took a little more time as the weather had almost changed the consistency of the sticker which meant that it snapped and was very brittle, but the blade had no trouble getting right underneath and lifting off, and then I went back over again to remove any glue marks . Be aware that the blade is very sharp and will mark other products. When trying to get my balance, I accidentally knocked it against the PVC window frame and it took a small chunk out. Thankfully that’s not noticeable and that’s completely a user error but just be mindful if you’re trying to use this on anything that could scratch such as metal/plastic as I get the feeling that this blade would leave a mark if you were trying to scratch something off, but it didn’t make any scratch marks at all on the glass. If I am being picky, then my only criticism would be that it would be nice if the handle was a little more robust as I feel that if too much force was applied or you didn’t hold it in the right place it would quite easily snap but other than that, performance wise, I can’t fault it. I was sceptical when it arrived, particularly as it was such a cheap price, but this is so handy to have in the cupboard. It says that it will accept a standard blade from the Stanley tool range so it can easily be replaced when it eventually blunts out. It’s one of those items that you won’t be using every day, but it’s definitely gonna help when it comes to removing stickers, price, tags, labels and similar, and for such a cheap price, it’s worth having one in the toolbox .

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Could you use it on plastic window frames?**
A: This is essentially a Stanley knife blade in a safe plastic holder. With care, it can be used on plastic if you keep the angle of attack shallow. I would try a Stanley blade on its own first and see what you think, it is mainly for use on glass windows where it does a great job of cleaning flecks of paint away. I have also used mine on a wooden pine cabinet to scrape away varnish before oiling the wood and that worked well also.

**Q: Other than the colour, what's the difference between this and the " Stanley Window Scraper 4 28 295" ?**
A: I don't have the two to make a direct comparison but from what I can see the 4 28 295 looks like a more robust version of the yellow one. The blade guard appears to be a built in mechanism rather than a detachable guard. Basically it looks like the next model up.

**Q: Can I use this to scrape stainless steel without it damaging it?**
A: I would say so, yes.. I've used it across glass, wood and marble and no damage thus far. Hope this helps

**Q: what knife blades do I need to replace this item please? If you have got an amazon link - please would you include in your answer. Many thanks**
A: I bought Stanley blades which fit perfectly, here is a link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-1992-Card10-Knife-Blades/dp/B0001IWB0I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1427046349&sr=8-3&keywords=stanley+blades

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very cheap. Effective. A trusty tool to sacrifice itself.
*by M***T on 29 June 2024*

Absurdly low price and reasonably effective disposable scraper. I bought a load to clean some floorboards of plastic film, in conjunction with a hot air gun. Occasionally the blade would get hot and the plastic would release the blade, but it could just be pushed back and left to cool. Blade stayed fairly sharp and the handle slowly got damaged over several hours, but it kept on working beyond my expectation. So if you want a cheap scraper, get this one. And buy a few. Its mostly cheaper to get a new scraper than buy a spare blade. But if you want a better scraper, spend more and buy the one.
