No instructions with unit, but assembly is fairly obvious. However I can see why there could be problems. The ball holding the phone carriage needed securing with an allen key (2.5mm) if mounted as delivered would have been useless. Clipping into radio it has to be entered, rotated 30 degree clockwise then collar tightened whilst holding base in position, it doesn't lock itself in until fully tightened. When tightening bear in mind it's plastic, tight but it's not metal!
