I wanted an AM/FM radio since I like to listen during the day, but I really wanted to be able to play some of my old records and CD's. I don't have any cassette tapes anymore, but if I did, I'm sure this would play them since it has that feature, too! So far I've listened and tuned the radio, which works well and I've played a CD and a few records. The sound quality is good enough for me. I'm sure some people would like better, but they probably already have a great sound system. I think the sound is just fine and it turns up quite loud if that's what you want. It's slightly smaller than the one I replaced, which is fine. It looks really nice on top of my wooden record cabinet, which is almost the same shade. So when it's not in use, it just looks really nice sitting there.
