Acceptable on 6061 aluminum and brasses. A little sketchy on mild steel, did tap in the end, just took time. You can easily tell when you are overstressing these taps, you can feel it. Would not recommend for hardened steel, but if you are tapping hardened steel you probably have better equipment than just a bench vise for that. The threads were a bit loose on the M6 but the M3, M4, M5 and M8 all are nice and snug. The M8 threads have held a couple hundred pounds (tested on my go-kart). If you drill the correct sized tap holes for 50% engagement, use lots of oil and go slow, I don't see how you can snap these taps. Review: They put threads in holes. - These taps are not Japanese quality, but the price is right. The threads are right on and do a good job for hobby operations. Returned for an exchange. The replacement was fully intact this time. Packaged better and was inside a plastic pouch, unlike the first one. It worked well enough for fixing the poorly done threads on my LG dryer.
