I worked in groups of 5 layers and just arranged each layer to have all different fabrics. This made it easier than to remember which fabric needed to shuffle to which other layer. The plastic grids cut off the "dog ears" as part of the grid, so matching seams is a breeze--no offsetting the seams and ending up with dog ears to cut off later. I would make another.
