I'd anticipated that I might have to replace the coupler on the end of the hose since these are commonly not high quality, but the one it came with works quite well when it's properly aligned on the grease fitting. I'd have happily given it 5 stars, but the hose is only rated for a fraction of the pressure that this grease gun can generate when being used on its "pressure" setting. I wasn't sure if this was common, but I observed replacement hoses in the local auto parts store that were much more suitably rated and therefore IMHO could have been supplied with this gun for only a few dollars more. ### ⭐⭐ I cannot recommend this product because there are grease guns of similar ... *by J***Y on August 16, 2017* Do not buy. It is not worth the extra cost. To begin with, I emailed the follow question to the Alemite Corporation before I purchased their product. "I am searching for a source to provide American made products such as grease guns and lube handling products. Where are Alemite tools and equipment manufactured?" Their answer was short and to the point. "Johnson City TN" So, I ordered a 555-E grease gun thinking that I would receive a quality USA made product. Yet, I did not. Instead I received a grease gun in a box marked "Designed in USA, Manufactured in China." Designed in USA, manufactured in China does not provide jobs for the American people. Instead, it provides wealth and for a communist government.Fact is, the gun is not worth the cost. The quality is mediocre and it's price is substantially higher than similar products. My old John Deere grease is close to 30 years-old but I seriously doubt the Alemite gun will last that long. Therefore, I cannot recommend this product because there are grease guns of similar or higher quality that cost much less. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well-made and well worth the price—1 photo *by G***H on August 16, 2017* I’ve used an Alemite lever-action for many years (made in USA stamped on the barrel). Best quality and easy cartridge replacement.I wanted a full-size pistol grip gun and bought the $33 Carbyne ‘Heavy Duty’ gun. What a mess. The flimsy rubber piston seal came off the piston with the first tube of greased used and most of the tube oozed past the piston and around the spring. The piston seal is about 3 times thicker and heavier than the Carbyne.The dual leverage, volume or pressure mode is useful. The photo shows 3 squirts. The top black strip is from the old Alemite lever-action.The middle red squirt is from the Alemite pistol-grip on the volume setting. Quantity looks to be 80 or 90 percent of the lever-action. A strong hand is required.The bottom red squirt is from the Alemite pistol-grip on the pressure setting. Quantity looks like about 5 squirts are required to equal the volume setting. Easy squeezin’ on the pressure setting.Yeah, the Alemite pistol grip is made in China.
