When they arrived I did notice there was very very small gap in each valve but I have not noticed that it has affected my output at all. They have not ripped or torn easily and I wash them every day. I pump 4-6 times during an 8 hour work day and usually once or twice on the weekend. I have been using this particular set for about two months now and am just now needing to replace them. The valves fit snugly onto my pump parts and do not come off easily. Ameda replacement parts are not readily available in brick and mortar stores so I will definitely be keeping an extra set or two on hand for emergencies. I hope this review helps you and makes you want to purchase this product because I was skeptical, but am extremely happy with what I received. Also, many of the Q and A talk about a specific Ameda pump. It doesn't matter which Ameda model you have, the valves are universal in the Ameda world.
