desertcart.com: Dangerous: 9781619638198: Hale, Shannon: Books

Review: Great book, interesting ideas, and amazing characters! - This book is amazing! I love Shannon Hale, and I loved seeing a new style of her writing after reading the Books of Bayern and Princess Academy. I love the genre, romance, and the clarity and importance Hale brings to life. The main character Maisie is quirky, smart, and intuitive and seems so real and alive. This book is very fast paced and filled with plot twists, but shocking events made me have to take breaks from reading and not finish it as fast as I usually do. Would not recommend this for late night reading or for reading where you might get distractions. This book is definitely for teenagers, there are many more sensitive subjects covered such as death, suicide, nightmares, and sex.
Review: New look for Shannon Hale--cautiously optimistic... - If you are looking for your typical Shannon Hale book, don't stop here! That being said, I really enjoyed reading Dangerous. I honestly am amazed by Shannon's imagination, but she makes it all work. The only disappointing thing in the book was the little steamy scene that really didn't have a lot to do with the book. Yes, we got the idea that she really "craved this boy", but the only reason I could even come up with for putting it in the book was to give girls an idea of how to say no to a boy, and let them know it is ok to do so. The hard thing for me has been the fact I could ALWAYS recommend Shannon Hale to the kids at school, and having 7th through 12th, I now will give them a little disclaimer. I was fortunate enough to get 2 free copies from an elementary school librarian, who obviously felt like she could just trust Shannon on her previous merits, but alas, she found out that wasn't true. Again, I really did like the book a lot and have a young man that reads a lot reviewing it for me now. It is on the Beehive YA Nominee Book list for 2014/15. I would probably add a .5 to my score, but can't give it a 5. It is set up for a follow up book, and I hope that is in her plans. :O) I know she can't have much time to think with all her little kiddies, but I really would like to see more of Maisie Danger Brown!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it
*by A***Y on March 26, 2014*

I was a little hesitant to read this because of the mediocre reviews, but I'm so glad I did. This is one of my favorite books in awhile. It may be a little intense for young readers, but I loved it (I'm a 35-year-old mother of 4). The pace was pretty fast, but I don't feel like anything was left out. Some authors seem to try to stretch one book into three, but this was more like the opposite, she fit a lot of story into one book (in the best sense). She could have dragged it out into three separate books, but it works great as one. I would definitely recommend this book!
