I purchased both the 165 and the 400, and use them routinely for set up work. The 400 is too strong and creates too much of a field to weld near, so it is used primarily to stablize pieces a couple of feet from where I'm running a bead.The 165 can be used in fairly close proximity to the weld area, as the field is not as strong. These models are not designed for high heat applications so I have to be careful how close they are to the bead, and how much heat I'm running. I usually work with thin wall square tubing so it's not that much of an issue as the heat isn't cranked up that high. I do a lot of metal cutting and grinding as well, and they help hold pieces when clamps are not possible or effective.The ability to turn of the magnetic field makes them easy to clean. They aren't cheap, but if you work with metal on a daily basis, they are worth the money. Great product! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Small but strong. *by J***T on October 31, 2018* My first impression when opening the box was that these things were dinky. I've been using Magswitch's base and Jig 150's for a while so expected these "dinky" magnets to be strong too. They are. They have an amazing hold. For those that complain about them slipping, the answer is simple: Place something that won't slip between the magnet and the metal base they attach to. Simple and effective. They slide because it's steel on steel. No friction. A piece of paper will increase the friction dramatically. Painting the magnet base with a latex paint will also do the trick. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing but not as strong as i expectes *by M***S on March 4, 2017* They are a lot smaller than you think they are, holding force of 150 sounds like a lot but its not as much as i expected, i have 5 of these at the moment and use them every single day at work as a weldet fabricator.
