    Great sticks

*by K***M on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 21, 2022*

These are super lightweight and surprisingly durable. I was really impressed with how small they pack up so they could be traveled with without taking up too much room. I don't have much experience using hiking sticks so I just used the ball tips they come equipped with when shipped and they did perfect on 5 miles of rocky terrain. The grips though, those are special, they're textured but not in a way that is going to be uncomfortable after awhile. They're very nice and grippy when using and I couldn't ask for better. It does seem like a lot for some hiking sticks but I do think these will last me a long time and I can't wait to get out and use them again.

Use these all the time with our Fitbit pedometer...

...when walking wooded trails in parks, etc. I was not sure if we would actually use them despite knowing they'd have health benefits, so we chose these poles due to the reviews but especially the lower price. Bought one pair first, then after testing it out, ordered our second pair. We use them two, three times a week, sometimes more. On one trail, they have made it a piece of cake getting up a very steep incline where it is just mainly compacted dirt and slippery grass, with nothing to grab on to. Other than those types of challenges, I really like them for keeping the pace up. You get into a great rhythm that is motivating to maintain. My husband and I generally walk these different trails over and over so it can get a bit boring. These poles, plus our Fitbit pedometer especially, make it more of a challenge: How long can we keep up this pace? How far can we keep going? Let's choose that more difficult hilly trail; It's always a challenge to try to get 10,000 steps a day so we've found the poles (and FitBit) invaluable for making it more a game, and getting in healthier steps vs sedentary ones. The rhythmic pace we create with the poles keeps us moving. The metal tips have held up well for a year on the dirt trails at the frequency described above. We are careful not using them on man-made hard surfaces. We have used the rubber feet to protect the tips if we walk on a blacktopped trail, etc. They are shaped like little black rubber boots cuz the forefoot portion bends as you take off with each step. (Hope that description makes sense) I initially thought these little rubber boots looked rather foolish and wished they were just round in shape, but turned out a clever engineer knew what he was designing. :)Although this is not a Fitbit review, I find a pedometer and the poles an invaluable duo. The Fitbit is pricy but has fortunately lasted me three years so far. No calculating stride lengths, etc. It uses an accelerometer. Whether another type might measure differently, or more accurately, the key is to motivate you to get moving, and then reading the concrete proof of your efforts. I have read some reviews commenting that it is easy to lose the little unobtrusive Fitbit as it apparently popped off whatever they clipped it on to. I proactively avoided this by buying an elastic headband that mimics an elastic ponytail holder. I slip it on the Fitbit and it holds onto it securely. Then I loop it onto a belt loop and clip the Fitbit onto my jean's pocket. Maybe three times I've discovered it dangling. Just one time would have equaled a lost pedometer. If not the Fitbit, research other pedometers. I wish we would have discovered both these poles and the Fitbit years ago.

Great Poles for a short time period

*by T***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 5, 2013*

I bought these trekking poles for an appalachian hike. It was my first time doing a hike of this nature and I had read online that poles were necessary. The reason why I originally picked them up was due to the cheap price, compared to other trekking poles, since I was only going to use them for five days. I am extremely glad that I did decide to pick them up since they were lifesavers. If it wasn't for these poles my ankles and knees would of surely given up.Pros-Cheap price-Did a great job for 5 days of intense 16 miles a day Appalachian trail-Great for a week useCons-Rubber bottoms fell off after three days-One of the poles began to loosen where it is extended, so it would randomly collapseOverall I am extremely happy with my purchase, however I would suggest that if you want more than a week use out of them, I would pay a little more money and get a nicer set. I wasn't sure if I wanted to hike a lot so the cheaper price was nice since I was able to have the support of poles but if I never used them again, it wouldn't have been a lot of money. I could tell the poles were falling apart the last day, yet the first day they were pretty much the same as my friends $90 dollar poles.
