I connected this to a mixer via the xlr line input on the LyxPro. The sound emanating from this small thing is incredible. Incredibly loud and incredibly clear. I was hearing subtle details in my mp3's that I had never heard before. The clarity of voices is outstanding in video playback. You know how you watch a movie and even with those fancy stereo speakers on either side you still can't hear dialogue that well? This thing is amazing in my setup as the midrange speaker for movies. The Bluetooth feature has yet to cut out on me as long as I'm in the same room within 30feet unobstructed view of the speaker. The reviews that claim it cuts out must not understand Bluetooth isn't WiFi and doesn't do well traveling through walls or maintaining a stable signal past 50feet. I love how there are plenty of inputs for connecting anything.The mix out output allowed me to connect a subwoofer and utilize Bluetooth to play music with the crystal clear highs of the LyxPro and the deep bass from the sub as soon as I walk into the house. So I thought about it and decided to try to get away from my wireless systems in my house my wireless router and my wireless phone system which operates at 2.4ghz. I took the speaker out into my backyard and plugged it in to an outdoor outlet. Then I turned on my bluetooth on my smart phone and turned on the PA speaker and voila it worked! So I am a happy camper now and have cancelled my return. BTW I cranked the volume up half way and it filled my backyard with sound! I believe it truly is a 100 watt amp! If you want great musical fidelity and played loud in a large room then don't expect to get that from this item. But if you use this for voice amplification then you'll be fine. Generally speaking the louder you make any speaker work, the greater the chances of risking distortion. I've used this for giving seminars to a group of 25+ people in a medium room and it was perfect. Inv also used it for a much, much larger group of people in a larger room, again, a working lecture, and it worked very well. For my slide presentations (PowerPoint) I have some background music track at a lower volume and I'll voice-over that which works well too. But I wouldn't use it for hi fidelity music for large groups in a large room or even outdoors. I am now a happy camper at Amazon! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well for guitar practice and vocals. *by B***B on February 7, 2024* I am not going to be using this for bluetooth and it is not the battery powered model. I use this strictly for guitar and vocals with a harmonizer. I bought this to solve the problem of having to move all my equipment into the warm living room to practice and then breaking it back down to move it back to the cold garage. I can heat and air condition my garage but it takes awhile to get it warm in the winter and by that time I'm out of the mood to practice or play. I like to keep my guitars on the stand at the ready in the living room, not in their cases as I should. The biggest issue to solve is I use a harmonizer (TC Helicon) when singing and a guitar. In the garage I have a mixer and an acoustic amp and there are no issues for setup. But, I can't have all the patch cords and mixer in the living room and the acoustic amp is too big to leave set up along with compression pedal, volume pedal, etc. It took all the joy of playing and practicing out of me. Another issue is that the guitar out from the harmonizer is XLR but I'd need it to be a 1/4" jack for the PA or the PA would need another XLR input. If it was a 1/4" out of the harmonizer, I could use the TC Hellicon effects for the guitar. So, what I do with this is sparse and its size is small enough to slide underneath an accent chair with the harmonizer and volume pedal when not in use. Very neat and easy, out of sight when finished and I don't have to disconnect anything. I had to figure out the ins and outs because its different when not using a mixer. So, my guitar connects to a volume pedal, then to a splitter to provide a signal to the harmonizer (required) and a direct connection from the split to the PA line jack -- no mixer. The mic is on a boom from the music stand and folds up when not in use and music stand is the only thing I move out if company comes etc. The mic (XLR) goes to the harmonizer and the out from the harmonizer (XLR) goes to the PA, again, no mixer. My acoustic guitar has an onboard equalizer, no in line effects. I'd like to have my compressor but I'm determined to keep this a minimal setup easily hidden when finished playing. So my setup is specific to my needs and I understand this won't apply to many reading this, but for those who like to play guitar and sing, this works pretty well at a decent price point. The PA came with a remote for the built in player (SD card or input RCA etc.) I have no use for this but it all operates as expected. DJs would love this but probably should get the 10" model to be more versatile for spaces and larger rooms. This 8" model is more than adequate for the largest of rooms in a normal house and handles guitar and voice easily with good clarity. I have about 20 hours on this and there's no heat issues. I set the levels in the rear of the PA and forget it. The volume pedal for the guitar is mandatory for adjustments and the harmonizer has level settings and effects for voice. There's a lot of headroom left if needed. The compressor pedal could make it a slicker setup for sound, but not for out of sight storage in my case. This same setup could easily be used for small coffee house, bookstore, retirement facility, nursing home, small church/chapel settings. I don't do that but I'd have faith in this setup and maybe take the compressor and a patch cord along in my pocket. A very portable, easy to carry powered speaker but if I did gig like this a lot, I'd get the 10" model for possible larger venues like a bar or outside patio settings without a built in sound system. Buskers could use the 8" battery model but again, go with the 10" or more as I'm not sure how loud you might require outside or in subways etc. - Your call -- I can only say that the 8" is plenty in the house/garage and my wife gets a headache from volume and stress of repeating same song or initial sound leveling when required. So I've practically set it up mostly for the harmonizer and the volume on the guitar is almost nothing which is fine since there are no effects. Would a small acoustic amp solve my problems better - nope. Exceptions would be if it had on board effects and if it had enough watts to make a difference. Usually those amps with a small enough profile to fit under the chair have small speakers and the voice on anything less than an 8" speaker is not enjoyable for me as it starts to sound "tinny" or small". My acoustic amp in the garage is large profile with two 6" speakers (30amp) and it barely is acceptable for vocal. A single 8" handles bass notes on the guitar better. Neither would be good enough for acoustic bass except for practice imho. If you have a need for an application such as this, this is a great little speaker for the price. Because it handles the harmonizer and voice , it would work pretty well for karaoke but not for "professional" karaoke contests etc. DJs should have at least two of these, but should be looking at the 10" model. Announcer at a business function/picnic etc. would find this acceptable but if they wanted if for music during the function, then again, the 10" model (even two speakers) would be better recommended. Sound for the patio and pool would be perfect with bluetooth applications but I have not determined the max distance. This 8" is very light and portable.
