I watched a really badly made German movie recently and its only redeeming quality was the music played during the final scenes. I rewound several times to catch a word or two of the lyrics in order to do a web search for the artist - it was hard though because I do not speak Italian and neither the song nor the artist were listed in the credits. Somehow, after a lot of trial and error, I finally found this album. The song, in case you wanted to know, is no. 8, "Seminatori di grano".I have since downloaded Solo dal vivo and it's been played a lot in my house. This is singer-songwriter music - acoustic guitar, and a raspy voice so definitely not for people who want a lot going on. Even though I do not understand the lyrics, the voice and the guitar keep me interested and make my mind go on vacation - it is almost as if a video is playing in my head of rocky beaches, olive groves, small cafes and a bit of melancholy... The best Italian music I have listened to in years.

Ich bin auf Gianmaria Testa erst durch einen Nachruf gestoßen. Seither habe ich mir seine Lieder oft angehört. Für mich ist er ein ganz besonderer Cantautore, sehr poetisch, sehr fein, sehr intensiv. Dies ist die Aufnahme eines Live-Konzerts, in der die Faszination von Stimme, Lyrik und Musik besonders direkt wirkt. Schade, dass ich nie auf ein solches Konzert werde gehen können!
