We have lights over our bed that are for reading but there is no switch. It's not fun to get sleepy or fall asleep and have to get out of bed to turn off the lights. This system is cheap and works like charm. You remove the old switch from the wall (make sure you turn off the power first) and install the remote switch using the same three wires that were connected to the old switch. The unit is RF so you don't even have to have line of sight.
