I’ve always used a safety pin to thread my elastic, but this is much better (for smaller/thinner elastic). It threads it much faster. I also love to use the flat end to check for a 1/4 inch seam allowance or to help feed a piece of fabric under my sewing machine foot when I have a little flap. The pointed end is also handy for this purpose too, depending on the situation, plus I use it to help push out and flatten a seam before pressing when making masks.
