We like to go hiking quite a bit and travel and we bring our dog with us all the time. The last time we went on a big hike out in Sedona we brought her and we were talking about getting her a hiking backpack. I researched a lot of different types of hiking backpacks and this one meant all of our needs. It is very sturdy and well-made and super easy to use. I think it has the best value for the money out of all of them. We wanted her to be able to carry her own water. But now we can actually put a few other things in there as well. It feels like it is comfortable for her and she has no problem wearing it. We are careful to balance it out so she isn’t overweighted or having too much weight on one side, but the way it’s made, makes that easy to do. Seems to be comfortable for the dogs and didn't have any hot spots or rubbing after several hours of use. Bags are large enough to carry a couple of liters of water (I used collapsable water bags), a collapsable bowl and some food. The medium size pack has smaller bags than the large size. One con is the buckle straps are hard to adjust, but once you get them dialed in you shouldn't have to adjust them again after. They seem to only be there for extra security on top of the Velcro straps. I did originally think the bags were removable from the vest but turns out they are sewn on. Packs have extra Velcro and some molle to attach small gear or patches. I have a 75lb mixed shepherd and when we go out for walks I carry everything, water, leashes, bags, extra water. I decided to get this as it looked better than others based on the reviews and website details. Not only am I super pleased with my choice it has made a difference in our walking. She stays next to me rather than leading me. I like the bright orange for visibility. The size of the saddle bags are enough for most things. It has been effective in walking and her carring her stuff. The velcro neck and underbelly straps are nice. I put her leash on one side and a bottle water on the other. Seems balanced. It doesn't seem to bother her when out walking. There is no way I could lift her with the handle, but I could hold onto her. It feels and looks like it will last for a while. Haven't cleaned it yet but it appears to be easy. I feel comfortable for her to wear this backpack. She has long hair and it can get stuck in the velcro. The clip looks durable but if she saw something she has a lot of force behind her take-off not sure of it's strength(not willing to try yet). I usually use 2 leashes for more control around the neck. I really like this backpack for her. The extra weight she can carry will tire her out quicker. Very pleased and will put to test this week on our camping trip.
