I was disappointed when I pulled this book out and it was soooo thin. 70 to 80 pages max and lots and lots of white space on each page and a exercise page is every other page like a work book so it likely could of been a 20 or a stretch 30 page booklet and still had all the information that is in it. I was like there is no way that this covers all of JavaScript. It dont...dont expect to get a full understanding of js from this. An example is the not ! binary operator. Some of you may know what I'm talking about it is needed and used alot in JS...but you wont learn about it in this book. You will see a list of them and also see a list of reserved words. Both of these things I was excited to have a book that gave definitions of and the uses...but you wont find that in this book. This could of been a great book I had such high hopes but I am really let down atm. reallllly let down. This is maybe a 10 to 15$ book that they have doubled the price on.I got this to have all the information in one place and I wanted to dig deeper and understand JS very well but also have some visual candy to help retention. NOT at all a holistic review and or explanation of JS. The stuff that is in the book you do need but it is very basic and you will still need to search the internet to fill in the many left blanks. You will get 0 information about any JS libraries which is a very big part of JS. If you have children, which I do it may be nice as a beginning book to introduce JS but you will have to follow up with a better book or good surfing skills. I guess its a good thing there is so much white space as Ill need it if I keep it to finish writing the book.I am going to read threw this better. But sitting with it for a moment and going over it this is def my first impression. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent start for beginners *by M***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 6, 2015* I took coding in college and I also followed up with self study to expand my knowledge or grasp.I honestly feel if I were to have read this as a beginner it would make a lot of sense to me and even increase my retention of JavaScript. I also know a couple of beginners that I showed the pics or graphics to. I then asked them their take on if these beautiful pictures could assist them in furthering their comprehension of JavaScript. It seems the pictures appealed to beginners as most were visual learners and they naturally gravitate to the pictures. The images do a nice job of breaking up what normally is pretty heavy cut and dry data like most books on Java. All together the information and picture combo was successful. Readers are able to expand their current understanding or start fresh as well as associate visual examples with effective implementation.This is intended for beginners and with that being said I find it an excellent start for beginners. It's not super long and creates some real strong foundational links.The only drawback is that it needs to be edited. There are some areas that need a little polishing. It simplifies all the tech savvy dialects into a language we can all understand and comprehend with ease. It also, introduces colorful images to the reader for a better understanding when describing and discussing the coding, diagrams and syntax highlighting.
