So once you clean a area of weeds you spread product and weeds don't come back. You spread it once a year in gravel, rock beds, walkways, even in flower beds that you don't plan on putting new stuff in. You will never pull a weed again in these areas. I love the product. **Q: Can you spread this in and among evergreen ground cover shrubs?** A: Yes, perfect place. It doesn't kill anything it just stops seeds from sprouting. So you need to clear out any weeds ,spread it in garden and no more new weeds will come up. Do it in early spring or late fall. Good to spread on gravel or rock beds also **Q: when must this product be applied?** A: In the bridge ,end of winter,before spring. It does not kill growth it prevents seeds from germantation. I bought it because I was tired of using Preen, which works for a maximum of 6 months (usually less than 4 in reality) which was costing a lot of money and just too much work.Since weed prevention products don't KILL weeds that have already sprouted, you must first remove all existing weeds, then put down a layer of mulch, and that means Preen requires twice the work each year.Image works fantastically well at preventing so many types of weeds, here in Cebtral Florida. It saves me so much work and time out in the blazing sun! Apply it once in March and you can pretty much forget about doing it again til Novemer or December. So, even though these never last for the full amount of time they say they do, this still works way longer than Preen!FOR BESTBRESULTS: Its always best to apply weed preventer after you have pulled up existing weeds, then sprinkle it over top of a layer of new mulch.
