The filter media does not make any more noise than any other standard media I have used but the thin, high flow design allows more of your blower fan noise to emanate back through the vent and into the room. The noise has always been there, just muffled by other filters.The build quality on the filters is great. Materials are of good quality and the assembly seemed well above standard. It is American made which is one of the reasons I decided to try it. Its manufacture did not disappoint but the design/engineering is disappointing.Air flow is great when the filter is new and a significant increase in flow was noticed at the outlet but this diminished quickly as the filter pick up debris.The big problem is fit. The outer dimensions of the filter on both sizes I tried was undersized. This prevented a seal fit within the vent frame causing two issues. One, my vents are overhead so if the filter is not snug it wont stay in place when I let go of the filter to close the vent. This constant falling makes it difficult to center the filter in the frame. Second, the loose fit causes an air gap around the filter in the vent housing. This caused the filter to move and bend as the air pressure flows around the filter until it deforms enough to seal against the frame. The materials are rugged enough to take the abuse but it does not inspire confidence that air is not bypassing the filter at some point. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid Construction. A++ Rating *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2015* This filter is rated MERV 8 which is equivalent to FPR 4 or 5 if you are looking at the filters you usually see in your local home improvement store. If you use the Filtrete by 3M this is equivalent to the filter with Green Label or the MPR 600. This will attract Mold, spores, dust mite debris, cat and dog dander, hair spray, lint and dust. I am impressed with the solid constuction of the filter. The paper that was used is said to be water proof and it actually looks like a fabric to me. It looks like I can hose it off a couple of time before throwing it away. I have been using the Filtrete brand rated 1500 MPR so I was skeptical about using a lower rating filter but this new filter actually feels better. I have not noticed any dry throat during the night. I have also noticed that the heating does not kick in as often. It could be that I just have a cleaner filter or that a lower MERV rating allows more air circulation in the system. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As good as they say - I'm impressed *by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2015* Ok, I bought a 2-pack to try and just checked the first one after 5 weeks of use and it still looks fairly good and I put it back in for a couple more weeks. I have a variable speed fan on my heating unit (HP w/ fossil fuel switch) and in the winter I have the fan set to "on/continuous" which allows the fan to run at about 20% speed to circulate the air constantly when not heating. A similar rated cardboard frame filter lasts about 1 month under these conditions in the heating months. For cooling, the fan is set back to auto.The filter definitely has more pleats as the company claims. The plastic framework holds up well, even though it bulges out toward the fan suction over time; but so due the others as they plug up. I had a cardboard frame filter buckle once after 5 weeks. I had to slip my fingers in to push the bulge back as I took it out or it would hang up on the ductwork top edge.
