For one price I get four grades of sharpeners for at leastt half the price of multi-grade sharpening stones. I was concerned about what happens when the steel rods wear out, but the website answered my concern by advising me to hold the sharpener under hot water and then remove the rod and rotate it to a fresh side. I found that this sharpener works great especially on better quality knives. I pulled an old, dull A.J. Henckels knife out of a drawer where it had been sitting for years and it came out razor sharp and holds it's edge. It seems that cheaper knives are harder to get an edge on and it dosen't last as long.
