The short answer is that most home brewer's will use 1 pack in a 5 gallon batch. However, most people tend to under-pitch and use less than the correct amount of yeast. The professionally recommended does is 1g per 1L according to the manufacturer. This works out to be about 19g in 5 gallons which is just under 2 packs of yeast. The amount of yeast you use will obviously affect the success of your fermentation but it will also affect different aspects of the flavor of the final beer. There is room for experimentation with how much you use to get the character that you are going for. May try other yeasts when I become more seasoned but will stick with what works until then. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fast, simple, generically "british" brewing strain *by D***S on April 11, 2014* This is a fast turnaround yeast that seems to work best in amber or darker worts where you want a little residual sugar. In a 3% abv dark bitter, with 5% simple sugar and a 152F mash, the yeast attenuated to 61% ADF. Fermentation was solidly complete in 2 days, which is frankly, pretty damn fast. It has exceedingly odd and unpleasant nutty and woodsy esters initially that fade in a day or two into generically British, fruity esters and a light fruity taste. It is poorly flocculent and will require cold condition and or finings to clarify. You can easily go grain to glass in 8 days with this yeast if you keg.
