Mechanic + fifth player expansion + play as intruder, etc. No carnomorphs, voidseekers, terrain, aftermath untold stories 1&2. **Q: How long to learn the game to where you can play it? Is it overly complex, or would it take an hour to teach someone the rules?** A: It probably depends on your experience with somewhat more complex games and your experience explaining them, but I’d say somewhere between 20 minutes to 1 hour. (Other factors would include your comfort with these particular rules, your groups comfort with moderate complexity games, how many questions they have, etc...) A game like this isn’t the most complex game to explain, but it’s one that has a decent amount of little rules to go over. With my gaming group I normally would take 15-35 minutes with a game like this (I can’t recall how long it actually took.) For background, I’m the one that always explains rules to games and having been doing it for over a decade. My experience with going over the rules for somewhat more complex games comes from games like Twilight Imperium (30 minutes - 1 hour) and War of the Ring (30 minutes - 1 hour) etc... This is also a game that you can explain some rules as they come up (like combat) but others should be explained beforehand (surprise attack > cards in hand) I’d also add that if you plan on playing coop, you wouldn’t need to explain everything immediately, because you guys won’t be against each other and you can help as you go along. The main game is "semi-cooperative”. You must work together to survive. You could get knocked out of the game on the second turn, permanently. But you also have personal objectives that might tempt you into deceit, sabotage, and murder. There are also Fully Cooperative and Revive Modes that eliminate paranoia and promote deeper compassion and communication. There's even a single-player mode! Optionally, the first player to die can play as the Intruders, making an already overwhelming enemy more threatening. Worth the pricetag, every dollar your spend is packed into the game. This is a well-designed and organized game box: a place for everything and everything in its place. High-quality and gorgeously detailed plastic figures, a double-sided game board (standard and harder layout), detailed instructions, handy reference cards, great artwork and more. A short story you can read aloud sets the drama while actually teaching the game's flow. My group played last weekend, and we couldn't help role-playing our characters. NOT our usual game night!!
