What do you do with them afterwards?** A: when they are dry, they shrink down to their original size, you can fold them up and store them for another rainy day **Q: Can these be used inside a door to keep water from coming in?** A: I suppose so, but I believe they are intended for outdoor use. My back door connects to my laundry room. Rainwater tends to pool just outside during heavy rainfall. It doesn’t take long for it to start spilling inside. I placed one of these OUTSIDE the door right up against the threshold. The rain activates the swelling as it absorbs. It raises up about 3-4 inches and no water gets past it. Since I’ve gotten this (like a week ago), we have had 3 major rain events, and my laundry room floor is completely dry. The best part is it can stay right where it is through the duration of hurricane season and keep on working. I did purchase a different item for inside the door but didn’t need it—plus it was in the way of opening that door when I needed to take the trash out.
