A couple of the pencils had popped out of place but I'm assuming it was a delivery issue vs from the merchant. Luckily nothing was broken and everything was in the case. The fact that the case is cardboard and can be personalized, was the winning factor. My sister isn't much of a girly-girl but she also doesn't like masculine designs, so she loved the fact that she can make it her own. I did not see that in the description and had I known that I would have chosen a different set.
