ORIGINAL or BLACK: “ORIGINAL” was intended to execute ball-pocketing with higher precision by enhancing the clean transfer of power to the cue ball. “BLACK” then increased the elasticity, and therefore the ability to impart spin to the cue ball for accurate position play. Two different styles of playability exist to enable the realization of intuitive play. KAMUI promises performance and consistency. The ability to rely on product performance enables players to seek higher level strategies and intuitively rely on their imagination to its fullest extent. Humidity resistance: KAMUI tips are made of vegetable tanned leather.Vegetable tanned leather is a far superior process in durability and elasticity compared to chrome tanned leather. However, vegetable tanned leather has a tendency to absorb moisture which degrades the performance of the durability and elasticity. Review: First impression is a great product - I like this tip. Easy installation with very little trimming on my 13mm ferrule. It is feels more alive or active than the previous laminated tip. While both were labeled medium, the Kamui tip feels harder, but seems to hold the Predator chalk for more shots. The last tip was reduced about 50% after two years so I expect to get several years of 12-20 hours weekly usage. Since there has been no tip maintenance since the original trim and shape, I have no idea how that will progress.

So, so good. I originally bought a Thoroughbred Cue Tip - Brown / Medium because it was literally 1/3 the price on a deal at Ft. Worth Billiards. It ended up mushrooming after less than a few weeks of regular play. During that time, I bought this Kamui clear and put it on my S.O.'s pool cue to see if I might like that one better when it was time to replace my thoroughbred. Night & day difference. The Kamui holds shape perfectly, hits true, and gives plenty of spin when trying to apply aggressive english to a shot. The only downside is that it's hard to find on sale or with any meaningful discount / price reduction....but they're also the best you can buy, so it sort of makes sense. You get what you pay for.
