Review: Ice T does heavy metal - One of the albums that played repeatedly in my car and on my stereo, this was Ice T’s crossover band as he made the successful transition from rap into heavy metal. It originally gained fame/notoriety due to the controversy surrounding the song “Cop Killer” which was perceived as blowback against perceived police brutality in the wake of the Rodney King episode. Lots of angry political riffs on this debut record that reflect the social landscape of the early 1990’s, particularly the racial strife, perceived police abuses, and gang warfare in south central Los Angeles. The band consists of Ice T and other young black musicians from the South Central area, and the lyrics reflect their concerns at the time. Moving past the politics of the record, Ice T will definitely not be remembered for his wide vocal range, depth of octaves or even much thought provoking lyrics, that don’t go too far beyond scratching the surfaces of the ills of society that he is upset with. However his off range vocals prove to be a success because match the sound of the band which was in its early stages and relatively unpolished. However THAT is this album’s appeal. While trying to convey their political message, Ice T and company also know how to have a good time with some fun thrash metal songs that resemble a great garage band that also wants its listeners to throw back shots of hard liquor and mosh their real life troubles away. Because of this the politics of the band never eclipse the true thrash metal/Fun time listening experience and the record Is a success in terms of the genre, and for pure thrash/hardcore fun. This was my favorite album in Body Count’s releases; subsequent albums weren’t bad per se but never recaptured the band’s success in producing that loud, abrasive, yet appealing music that so appeals to bored, disenfranchised male youth who this record is targeted at. A great success at early crossover thrash and a small yet significant contribution to heavy metal history
Review: Hard to find cd - Just a what the doctor ordered. Great metal with a touch of tea. Came quick n plays perfect

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Body Count, i love the name Ice.....
*by A***R on December 10, 2015*

Received the Body Count cd and in good condition. Even though this cd doesn't have cop killer on it, this is a really good collection of Ice T's Body Count. I purchased this cd a long time ago before the idiots who don't believe in freedom of speech made such a big deal over this song and Warner removing cop killer. Well some one stole that from me. This cd is still really good. I really think alot of the songs have a serious message, and I'm surprised Warner didn't remove any other. Good rock band with good lyrics!
