## Description

Aviva Drescher, the REAL Housewife of New York City, born and bred in Manhattan, shares her REAL story in this tell-all memoir. She’s blond, beautiful, and brazenly honest— one of the boldest cast members of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City and most talked-about stars of reality TV. From the moment Aviva Drescher stepped her prosthetic leg into the spotlight, she sparked controversy and ratings. Now, for the first time, the native New Yorker stands on her own two feet to speak out on her fascinating life. With true courage, Aviva tells the story of how she lost her foot in a barn accident at the age of six and the numerous—sometimes bizarre— attempts to reattach it. After a trip to India to be “cured” by a famous mystic, young Aviva learned to use fashion and style to draw attention away from her prosthesis. She fled to Paris in her early twenties, where she transformed herself into a wild club chick and danced on tables with the crème de la crème of the big-hair supermodel era. Through a series of tumultuous relationships, Aviva had four children by two husbands, changed religions, got a law degree, and became an entrepreneur. All the while, she wrestled with chronic panic attacks and phobias (it’s not easy being terrified of elevators in Manhattan), and a few savage Law & Order –worthy civil courtroom dramas. The real terror of Aviva’s life, though, was her mother’s debilitating alcoholism. Thanks to her loving husband, Reid Drescher, Aviva came to terms with her mother’s early death, got a grip on her anxieties, and found the strength to show the world who she really is. In this no-holds-barred memoir, Aviva bravely exposes the truth about her many medical and elective surgeries, and what really happens behind the scenes of reality TV. She also answers many frequently asked questions about amputees: How much does your prosthesis cost? How often do you replace it? Do you have sex with the leg on or off? Filled with Aviva’s trademark wit, wisdom, and no-nonsense candor, Leggy Blonde is a story that stands all on its own.

Review: Just what your bookshelf's been waiting for - I love a bio and as a fan of the Housewives of NYC I was busting to get my hands on this book (I mean you can't ignore the controversy surrounding it either, right?!).. Well, the tome doesn't disappoint. She writes frankly showing the personality I've so come to love on RHONY but also displays that honest and softer side as she reveals the moments in her life that have shaped her and why she makes no apologies for being the empowered woman that she is. Particularly poignant are the details of how an innocent childhood sleepover would change her life forever. If you want to learn more about a woman who hasn't let tough times, antagonism and road blocks that amputees face in life stop her from living out her dreams, and becoming successful, then what are you waiting for? Review: Phobias and dismemberment - If you are Pro Life and detest abortion , do not buy this book. You will be offended. Even if you are Pro Choice, but value honesty and integrity and expect such when reading a memoir... do not buy this book. Aviva..... what can one say? If you had left out the abortion one could argue that you were dishonest about your "life". You told the story. But here's the problem. You told it without any insight into having done so . You insist you are filled with phobia's. You are fearful of pain medication and elevators and little spiders but not big spiders. You want to be AWAKE for your abortion? You are not afraid of the suction sound as the doctor pulls apart your little baby who's heart is beating? You are not afraid of that? In fact based on how you convey the abortion, you SAILED THROUGH IT. That child was but a blip on the radar of your life story. You have your own foot ripped off but think nothing of ripping your child's foot off? For those of you who do not want to take my word for what an 8 week to 12 week baby looks like when it's aborted, I encourage you to google abortion photos. And that's assuming that she got to the abortion doc straight away. You talk at length about your children . Your FOUR children. The three you gave birth to and your stepdaughter. Not a mention of Harrison's brother or sister. You had five children. You are past forty years of age. You now know what you did. You ended the life of one of your children. To not mention once any regret or sadness over this event in your life is just not believable. You are a person who feels guilty. You feel great guilt over your mother. I do not believe that you do not have internal struggles with the death of your baby. And so ... I say you were dishonest in your book. But you already admitted you are dishonest. You have no idea why you said you spoke five languages when you only speak three? It screams you have no insight to your past or your own behavior. To be lying about such a substantial fact at your age? I would not have written this review but you attacked Paul Ryan who is Pro Life. And so here is..... back at you! You care about people? You are interested in social issues? Well here is some raw facts Aviva. The greatest killer of African Americans in this country is not heart disease, diabetes, murder, or cancer. It's abortion. The most unsafe place for an African American in N.Y. is in the womb. 6 out of 10 pregnancies in that community will result in an abortion. 56 million babies in this country have lost the beautiful possibility of their lives because of Roe vs Wade. I wonder if you have heard of the young high school wrestler who's birth mother attempted to abort him but it was botched. His name is Nik Hoot and he had both legs partially amputated by an abortionist. Have you seen him Aviva? I feel sad for your children. They will one day read this book. I wonder what they will ask about their little brother or sister that you so easily dismissed.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A really great read
*by L***O on February 28, 2014*

As a watcher of The Real Housewives, of course I was interested in reading this book. Honestly though, The Real Housewives turned out to be the least of it. Aviva has led a very interesting life and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about it. I only knew her from what I've seen on television and we all know that reality TV is not always reality. The book was well written and a quick read. I finished in just a couple of hours as I could not put it down! I suggest reading it whether you watch the Real Housewives or not. Bravo Aviva! Pun intended :)
