I gave away a pair of Paria trekking poles to a fellow ultra runner after I got these. There was nothing wrong with the Paria poles, they're a great bargain and a perfect intro pole for folks new to going long but I found getting my hands in and out of the strap on them annoying. Not impossible, not hard, just annoying.With these you leave the straps on your hands and just unhook them. They open and fold about the same as any collapsible poles overall. I'm not 100% sure about the longevity of the 'pen click' type mechanism to lock them in and release them but we'll see.
