They're stiff when cool, and soft/pliable when warmed up a bit in your hands. They don't stick to your food or leave a funky odor/taste.It comes with four wraps. Oddly enough, the picture shows a button with a separate string--but in fact, the button and string are sewn directly onto the largest wrap (I actually find this to be infinitely more useful than just a loose button and string lol).A useful DIY would be to sew buttons and string on all the wraps, that way everything stays in place.
