This refill is the perfect size for this pen, no trimming or taping necessary, no wobble from the needle, its a perfect fit. It glides smoothly on paper, and overall I would say this writes "OK". I am still on my first day using this refill, however I have had a couple instances where the ink skips, or will stop completely for about a word and a half while writing. I'm not sure if it needs a little bit of writing to break it in, but I would say that a high quality refill like this should be ready to go out of the gate. On a personal note, the ink is not as dark as others I have seen, although nothing that would impact legibility, just a lighter shade of black, maybe more like a dark graphite color.
