## Description

Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Universal Bonding Primer is specially formulated to firmly bond any topcoat including solvent-based/epoxies to difficult to paint surfaces. It creates a rust-resistant surface and features smooth leveling for a uniform, high-quality coating.

It sticks to everything I've tried -- bare metal, painted metal, wood, particle board, melamine, plastic -- you name it. It levels well, it covers well, and it works well as a primer (preparing a surface for paint). It dries to the touch in an hour and the best part is (unlike all the other Rustoleum paints and primers I've used) you can TOPCOAT ANYTIME. (Other products require you to topcoat within an hour or wait 24 (and even 48) hours before top-coating -- woe to any painter who tries to recoat within the prohibited window. Having to wait that long before top-coating means that even small paint projects can drag out into days and even weeks.) The only downsides to this primer are: * It's more expensive than similar products * A can doesn't go far (Rustoleum says it will cover 10 sq. ft. but that's not much and I'm sure they mean a flat continuous surface, not a 3D one) * It's hard to find. Stores don't stock it because there's not much demand for it. There's not much demand for it because people don't know about it. * It's extremely smelly and should be used outdoors or in a very well-ventilated space. Be sure to use a mask. I used it in my basement with the door closed. and afterward I could smell it on both the first and second floor. **Q: Is this rust-oleum universal bonding primer suitable as a primer over galvanized metal?**
A: Wipe the Galvanized metal down with regular old white vinegar before painting That's what we always did to the vent caps on roofs when I worked for Payne heating & air

**Q: Can i use this on my car?**
A: Assume so. I used it on a steel railing that had some peeled paint. I steel brushed it, sprayed this primer and then a top coat of high gloss black. Good so far.

**Q: Can this be used on Formica after being sanded?**
A: Universal Bonding Primer is intended for difficult surfaces like galvanized metal, but it may be OK on Formica.  Be sure and check with Rust Oleum customer support.  They are very helpful.

**Q: Can i use this with acrylic paint?**
A: Yep! I use this exclusively to prime vinyl figures before painting them with acrylic 👍

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product for TV tower and Antenna work

My application was to restore Rohn 25 tower sections. They were stored for 12 years, and although never in the weather, there was some small rust spots, mainly in joints or cross-members. After cleaning and degreasing the metal I applied Rust-Oleum 330491 bonding primer. Kudos to Rust-Oleum Product Support Rep, "Karen", for recommending this product. The job turned out perfect and after the sections were painted the job came out better than I thought! I also used this product to paint several fiberglass communications antennas which were showing their age. The primer and paint did not affect the performance of the antenna, and again, another perfect job. I'm very satisfied with the product support and quality.
